This is my Performance Lab Energy review, an energy supplement designed for mitochondrial support and mitochondrial energy to give you natural energy without the use of caffeine.
In this review, I put this product to the test to see how effective it really is, while also answering some of the more commonly asked questions.
Performance Lab Energy FAQ
[rank_math_rich_snippet]
One of the things to note, is that Performance Lab is the cleanest supplement range I have come across – it’s incredibly high quality. It’s vegan friendly, allergen-free, soy-free, no synthetic additives, caffeine-free, non-irradiated, non-GMO, and GMP certified.
What is Mitochondria – and how does Performance Lab Energy help?
Before we get started, let me cover Mitochondria. These are things known as organelles in your body cells that turn food into energy that powers the metabolic process.
They’re your body’s powerhouse for energy – without them, you wouldn’t be able to achieve any form of energy production. It’s typically found in high concentrations in organs like your brain, heart as well as your muscles.
Over time your mitochondria take on damage from age, and unstable free radicals. This can cause problems like long-term fatigue as well as brain fog and other concerns linked to a lack of energy.
Performance Lab Energy helps this situation by providing stimulant-free fuel to your mitochondria. It supplies your energy powerhouses with support to help them grow, stay protected, and work at their optimum level.
It’s a clean way to give your body some long-term energy benefits. Rather than giving your body a quick hit that it would get from caffeine – it instead gives the energy producers long-term support to grow and become more effective. Definitely a cleaner and safer way to build energy.
What are the ingredients of Performance Lab Energy?
- Acetyl L-Carnitine (from Acetyl L-Carnitine HCL) – 750 mg
- Microencapsulated Bio-Enhanced R-Lipoic Acid – 150 mg
- MicroActive Q10 (Coenzyme Q10) – 100 mg
- BioPQQ (Pyrroloquinoline quinone [PQQ]) – 10 mg
- BioPerine Black Pepper Extract (Piper Nigrum) (Fruit) (95% Piperine) – 2.5 mg
All the capsules are NutriCaps too, which is a Pullulan (natural edible polymer) and NuFlow which is a natural rice concentrate. Vegan friendly, soy friendly, gluten-free – the works.
Before we even talk about the ingredients in Performance Lab Energy – I love the fact that there’s no proprietary blends in here, all the dosages are clearly labelled – which is great.
You know exactly what you’re getting from each ingredient in this supplement in terms of the dosage, and that there’s no hidden fillers or artificial additives which could off-set the cleanliness of this product.
Now with that out of the way – let’s get into the Performance Lab Energy ingredients:
Acetyl L-Carnitine (from Acetyl L-Carnitine HCL) – 750 mg
This is an amino acid and a great addition to Performance Lab Energy, partly because it is the cofactor that your body needs for cell energy.
It’s essential for how your muscles perform. In addition, ALCAR actually helps to preserve energy in your muscles and points your body towards fat as an energy source.
The main ways L-Carnitine works are by helping to fuel mitochondria by donating acetyl groups to help make Acetyl CoA long-chain fatty acids. It also helps you to produce ATP energy via transporting long chain fatty acids into the mitochondria.
It also helps to recycle out mitochondrial membranes so they can transport fuel again – there’s plenty of benefits to supplementing ALCAR – and with 750 mg in a single serving, you’ve got a lot to gain from Performance Lab Energy.
Microencapsulated Bio-Enhanced R-Lipoic Acid – 150 mg
R-Lipoic Acid is another key part of the energy process. It is a cofactor of mitochondria promoting enzymes which help with carbohydrate metabolism and bioenergetics.
It is also a precursor for Acetyl CoA, which again, helps boost your energy, but it also promotes overall cell performance by boosting glucose metabolism and transportation.
Quick Note: The ALCAR and R-Lipoic Acid in Performance Lab Energy work together in synergy. Research shows that when taken together they act better on your mitochondrial synthesis and energy metabolism than when they are taken individually. Together they can also help protect proteins and mitochondria from free radicals.
MicroActive Q10 (Coenzyme Q10) – 100 mg
CoQ10 is always a must when it comes to boosting energy levels – purely because it’s just so prevalent in your body and has a strong relevance to energy.
For example 80% of all your body’s Coenzyme Q10 is found in your cell mitochondria. This includes cells in the brain, heart and other essential organs as well as your muscles.
The only problem with supplementing CoQ10 is that it is typically difficult for your body to absorb. However, Performance Lab go the extra mile using MicroActive Q10 which performs a slow release over a 24 hour period. Research has shown using the MicroActive Q10 version of CoQ10 doubles the levels of it in the blood stream over a 3 week period.
So, now we know that it can be absorbed, what can it do?
It can help with starting cell energy as CoQ10 helps to move electrons and protons across your mitochondrial membranes which helps convert fuel into ATP cell energy.
It also helps to protect your mitochondria by being converted into the antioxidant ubiquinol which helps protect against free radicals, cell damage and age acceleration. In addition to this it can also help stimulate the formation of new mitochondria in response to oxidative stress.
BioPQQ (Pyrroloquinoline quinone [PQQ]) – 10 mg
BioPQQ which is a branded form of Pyrroloquinoline Quinone (PQQ) is an antioxidant which can support cell health and development. It’s related to B-Vitamins and may help boost your mitochondrial function.
Ways it may do this includes working with CoQ10 to stimulate mitochondrial biogenesis, and helping to influence genetic pathways to regulate mitochondria.
Also, due to being an antioxidant, BioPQQ can also help to reduce oxidative stress of the mitochondria. It’s believed to be 5000x stronger antioxidant than Vitamin C which would is fantastic for improving mitochondrial security.
BioPerine Black Pepper Extract (Piper Nigrum) (Fruit) (95% Piperine) – 2.5 mg
Always a good choice – in any supplement – BioPerine (Black Pepper) is an effective option when it comes to maximizing absorption of a supplement.
The main way it helps Performance Lab Energy is by helping nutrients get into your bloodstream more effectively to boost their effectiveness. Research shows that BioPerine may boost CoQ10 bioavailibilty by up to 30%.
As well as helping with absorption, Bioperine also has some thermogenic qualities which can help you to expend more calories – which could be useful if you’re looking to burn some fat as well as improve your energy levels. It’s a nice way to top a supplement like Performance Lab Energy.

Is Performance Lab Energy Safe, are there Side Effects?
Performance Lab Energy appears to be safe to consume. There are no ingredients in here that have been linked to causing dangerous side effects – and we haven’t heard any reports of any users running into issues with it.
Personally, I haven’t experienced any negative effects from this one and I take two capsules of Performance Lab energy almost every day.
Performance Lab Energy Results: What do I experience using it?
For my Performance Lab Energy review (and generally), I typically take 2 capsules of Performance Lab Energy in the early afternoon. I rarely use stimulants after 12pm, so Performance Lab Energy is perfect for me to keep me energized for a post-lunch work session.
I take it with a tall glass of water and find that I can use that long-term energy to push deep into the evening if I have a busy work day ahead of me. I try to take it daily and consistently, and feel like the more I take it, the less often I feel fatigue in general.
This makes sense to me as this supplement’s main job is to boost the performance of my mitochondria. With that working overtime, I feel there’s less brain fog throughout my day and I can just knuckle down and work without the need of coffee or stimulants in the afternoon.
If you’re adverse to caffeine and still want to get a big hit of long-term energy to carry you throughout the day without getting hit by that almighty “energy crash” Performance Lab Energy may be for you.
I’ve also tried taking it before a gym session, which was a pleasant experience. There was no “rush” that I get from caffeine, so it wasn’t an intense session – it was just controlled and enjoyable. Personally I feel I have better results in the gym using Performance Lab Stim from my productivity stack.
All in all though – it’s a fantastic supplement for stimulant-free productivity and a feeling of general energy and freshness.
